BEYOND THE BRUSH, HAMILTON

August 9 2022

Would you like to loosen up and try new things?

This workshop breaks all the rules and lets you abstract your art into beautiful landscapes.

Have fun with mixed media from watercolour to crayons and natural dye.

Explore materials in the morning; mark making, surfaces and creating depth. The afternoon session is dedicated to making a series of three artworks.

I will share my tools and some specialist materials, such as pastels, waxes and dyes. Feel free to bring your art materials too, especially the neglected ones :-)

Light refreshments provided. Explore Casabella Lane for lunch options.

FOREST BATHER SCULPTURE

31 July 2022

Life size sculpture, Forest Bather has be selected for the 2023 Connection exhibition at Kaipara Coast Sculpture Gardens.

Forest Bather reiterates the connection between our bodies and the landscape. I have again used a larger female form and I'm looking forward to sculpting in landscaping fabric, instead of ceramics this time around.

This is the second in the series at this beautiful venue just outside Auckland. The sculpture has a steel armature, and will be covered in moss, lichens and small plants on a lightweight form.  Work has already begun to cultivate mosses at home in the Waikato.

I'm really excited to work with the team at the sculpture gardens again. My involvement last year was interrupted by covid restrictions and an operation on my pelvis - big sculptures were out!

To be in such company is awesome! Open now and for the next few weeks.

CROWDFUND ME!

November 19, 2020

I need a woodfired kiln at my studio and I'm crowdfunding Nov-Dec 2020 to raise money for this.  Because I'm an individual artist, there aren't many grants around to fund this work, despite my running workshops for others out of it. That's where contributions from my crowd - you - come in.
